You can repair ships by paying at a shipyard, by spacewalking and using the repair laser, or by using the Player Headquarters. The advantage of repairing ships at the HQ is that it's cheaper than using a shipyard (although it does take longer), but still lets you get on with doing something else.
To repair a ship it must be docked at the HQ. Repairs also require credits, resources, and time. If you select the HQ and then Adjust Station Parameters (d key) you will see a list of docked ships that can be repaired in the 'Add to Repair Queue' section. Selecting a ship and pressing i or u will display the ship information, including the requirements for the repairs to the ship. Depending on the ship type, some or all of the following resources might be needed:
- Cloth Rimes
- Computer Components
- Crystals
- Energy Cells
- Microchips
- Ore
- Nividium
- Quantum Tubes
- Rastar Oil
- Silicon Wafers
- Teladianium
The requirements will vary depending on the type of ship and the amount of damage that needs to be repaired.
Note that you do not need blueprints to repair a ship.
To add a ship to the repair queue, select the ship in the list in the 'Add to Repair Queue' section, and press Enter (or double left-click). The ship will be added to the queue and (if there is nothing else in the queue, and the repair cycle requirements are met) after a few seconds it will be removed from the queue and the repair process will begin.
If you want to repair several ships you can add more ships to the queue. Ships in the repair queue are processed in the order they are added to the queue (first in, first out).
If the repair process for a ship has not yet begun (i.e. the ship is still in the queue) you can remove it from the queue in the 'Remove from Repair Queue' section in Adjust Station Parameters. If repair has already begun (i.e. on the ship currently being repaired) then the process cannot be stopped. A ship under repair is removed from your control until repairs are complete.
The list of ships currently in the repair queue can also be seen in the HQ station information screen (u key), along with the requirements for repairs to the first ship in the queue, and detailed information about the progress of the current repair cycle. Note that the ship currently being repaired is no longer on the repair queue.
Once the repair cycle has finished the repaired ship will be returned to your control, and the HQ will start repairs on the next ship in the queue (resources and credits permitting).
Note: this feature is only found at the HQ.
