Are player factories the same as NPC factories?

Not quite.

The main difference is that player factories do not have secondary resources.

Some specific player stations also have different primary resource requirements to NPC factories. This includes:

Solar Power Plants use Crystals.
Cahoona Bakeries don't use Delexian Wheat.
Quantum Tube Fabs use Silicon Wafers rather than Ore.

Note that any NPC factories which were actually built by the player (i.e. for a Build mission) will have the same resource requirements as a player factory.
