When used all the electrical systems of the target start to malfunction, eventually destroying them completely. It leaves the hull untouched. An excellent choice to take down the shields of an opponent very quickly. These shield will recharge, however, as long as they aren't destroyed.

NB: The Ion Disruptor beam will jump between ships when fired and while this effect can be very useful when attacking groups of enemies, it should be used with caution when near friendly targets. It can also used to stun spaceflies!
