The default install location depends on the distribution you have:
For X3: Terran Conflict this is either
C:\Program Files\Egosoft\X3 Terran Conflict, or
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\X3 Terran Conflict
X3 Albion Prelude is an addon to X3TC and shares files with it. Therefore the X3AP installation folder is called "addon" and is located within the X3: Terran Conflict installation folder. The default install location is:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\X3 Terran Conflict\addon
On 64-bit versions of Windows the folder will be under Program Files (x86) rather than Program Files.
If you installed the game to a different location then it will be wherever you put it! If you can't remember where that is then you can perform a search for X3TC.EXE or X3AP.EXE (both exe files are located in the same folder).
Note: If you installed to the default location then on Windows Vista and Windows 7 any files subsequently written to the game folder may be placed in a virtual store rather than directly under 'Program Files'. If you are browsing the folders as the same user that you run the game with then this should not be an issue, but otherwise you may need to look under C:\Users\whoever\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\.
