Trading is the process of buying products for low prices, and then selling them to other stations for higher prices. It is one of the many ways to make money in the X-Universe.
You can trade by docking at a station, and then pressing the D key to "Trade with this station". Here you will see the station's product (which you can buy) and the station's needed resources (which you can sell to the factory). If stocks of products are high, you might want to buy a few as they will be cheap. To do this highlight the stock of the product with the Up/Down cursor keys, and then use the Right cursor key to move stock into your cargo bay. Press Enter when you are sure of your purchase.
Your next step will be to find another factory which requires your newly purchased materials as a resource. Try to find a factory that is low on that particular resource, as the lower the stock, the higher the price they will be willing to pay. To sell resources, highlight the stock of the resource and then use the Left cursor key to move the stock from your ship and into the factory. Press enter when you are sure of your sale.
Now if you've bought at a low price and sold at a high price you should have made a profit!
