Sometimes you want to launch an attack against two targets at the same time. If the targets a roughly near each other, this can be done easily with the use of wingmen, and the player does not require lightning reactions to do so.

First, you must place your fighters together in space, and decide which are to attack which target. This plan will be spoiled somewhat if there are other fighters in the sector, which you do not wish to become involved.

Target A will be attacked by some, and target B by the rest. Make all of the fighters that you wish to attack target B into wingmen, and make sure that they're the only wingmen. Now, all you need to do is to order all your fighters to attack target A, then order all your wingmen to attack target B. Because the wingmen were all ready under way when they received their second command, they should be in a position to commence their attack at the same time as the first group.

In this example, use can be made of the shortcut keys. You should have target B selected as your current target, and can use Shift+6 to divert the wingmen to it.
