Your first decision when it comes to wingmen is deciding which ship or ships to use. This decision is partly made for you - you cannot use any large ships as wingmen. Large ships include carriers, destroyers, corvettes and TL class transports. It's also fairly easy to exclude most transporters. Wingmen are a military application for a ship. Your choice ought to be made from fighters, and very possibly the Split passenger transport.
